Coming of Age
When do boys become men and girls become women?
This pivotal threshold of growth and change is often left uninitiated for young people and can create a host of confusions and interruptions in their developing life.
In modern day, this time of transition has been overlooked by most social and school systems, leaving it up to the parents to decide to center this time with intention and curiosity.
When teens are navigating puberty and hormonal shifts, they are often overwhelmed by the sheer about of new stimulus in their experience.
Self-consciousness rises tremendously and makes them very aware of their body.
They are developing more complex relationships and gaining more personal autonomy of their lives and the direction it can take. Their critical thinking skills and exploring their place in the world ignite immensely at this coming-of-age juncture.
Areas of Focus:
Identity Formation
Peer Influence
Autonomy
Emotional Regulation
Body Awareness (Through felt-sense)
Establishing Clear & Aligned Values
Developing Relationship
Romantic Relationships & Sexuality
Promoting Healthy Contemplation
Discovering Meaning
Essential Life Skills
Communication & Relationship Building
The most impactful way we can work with young people to create lives of authentic expression and meaning is by taking the time to attend to their communication and relationship skills and understanding.
When your teen knows how to be present and listen from within, they can practice this present listening with those they are in company with too.
To go beneath the habitual level of quick responses and problem-oriented thinking, your teen can learn how to express themselves honestly through their speech and actions.
Root Connection Mentorship creates ongoing opportunities for meaningful shared connection to be explored and encouraged further.
Mentorship Testimonial:
“My time being in the Root Connection Mentorship Program with Heather truly helped me expand my view of the world. She assisted me with understanding my own inner world, the world outside of me, and helped me to align these two perspectives.
She showed me how to dive deeper into myself and how to be honest with the people around me, and, with myself. I met Heather during a really intense transition time in my life. I was full of questions about myself and what I wanted to do with my future and Heather met all of those questions with honesty and curiosity. Through our many talks I was able to define a clearer path of what was truly important to me and how to take active steps towards creating a life path I wanted to follow.
Heather allowed me to have a space where I could be myself and be really honest too. She met me with respect in a way that as teens we don’t often feel from adults in our lives. She taught me emotional regulation tools and journaling methods I still use to spark creativity and understand myself better.
Heather offered me countless ways to deepen my understanding of myself and modeled to me how to ground and center in any moment, which I practice now often as an adult.
I cannot recommend the RC Mentorship Program enough. I’ll forever be grateful to have an ongoing connection with Heather.”

Mentorship Testimonial:
“Mentorship time together with Heather had a deep impact on me. She asked me to grow, play, and create, not just in what I did, but in who I was becoming. She held space for me to explore my thoughts, find clarity, and move forward with more genuine confidence and intention. I still return to things she taught me, especially the essence of “Beyond Me, Becoming We.” That message continues to shape how I show up in the world and with others. I am so grateful for everything Heather poured into me back then.”

Mentorship Testimonial:
“Growing and discovering alongside Heather feels like a warm hug and soft exhale into all my layers of self. She held space for me that was so honest and human, celebrating all parts of me as a sacred unfolding, even the parts I run from or reject.
I learned to let go of the pressure, the performance, and the judgment toward my life and my emotions through our deep dives together. Heather’s shown me what it means to be met with unconditional love, safety, and authenticity — that kind of support cracked open a part of me that was buried for a long time.
Her wisdom and teachings helped me see that, the messiness in the discovery and the softness, are necessary for healing.
From learning alongside Heather over a good amount of time, I’ve been able to experience our relationship as a mirror and a blessed gift. She’s taught me how to sit with what is there rather than believing that it makes me wrong and that I must escape it. She’s fostered the reclamation of my intuition as a force not to be second-guessed, yet unapologetically embraced.
Through our mentorship work together, I’ve seen how healing isn't about perfection or arrival, it's about deepening presence and trusting in my unique transformation.
Heather shows up with reverence, clarity, humor, depth, and the utmost compassion, which models what true leadership and friendship can feel like. She has reminded me that connection does not require fixing or presenting — it requires a loving presence and a courage to live out our joy.
Her support is not about saving you, it's about truly witnessing your inner nature to build more intimacy within these vulnerable spaces.
As I stand at the threshold of big transition, desiring to build a life purposefully aligned, I am grateful for Heather's guidance, supportive energy, and wise teachings as a woven thread into my becoming.”
